Method
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, diced pickled jalapeño peppers, cooked bacon (if using), garlic powder, and black pepper. Mix until well combined and creamy.4 ounces cream cheese, 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese, 1/4 cup finely diced pickled jalapeño peppers, 2 tablespoons finely chopped cooked bacon, 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- Carefully unroll the crescent roll dough onto a lightly floured surface. Pinch together any seams to create a solid rectangle. If your dough has perforated edges, gently press down on them to seal.1 tube refrigerated crescent roll dough
- Evenly spread the jalapeño cream cheese mixture over the entire surface of the crescent roll rectangle, leaving a small border around the edges.4 ounces cream cheese, 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese, 1/4 cup finely diced pickled jalapeño peppers, 2 tablespoons finely chopped cooked bacon, 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- Starting from one of the longer sides, carefully and tightly roll up the dough with the filling inside, like a jelly roll. Try to keep the roll as even as possible.1 tube refrigerated crescent roll dough
- Using a sharp knife, trim off the uneven ends of the roll. Then, slice the roll into 1/2-inch thick rounds. These are your Jalapeno Popper Twists!
- Place the sliced twists onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each one. You can gently press down on them a bit to flatten them slightly, if desired.
- Brush the tops of each twist with the beaten egg wash. This will give them a beautiful golden sheen when baked. If desired, sprinkle sesame seeds or Everything Bagel seasoning over the egg wash.1 egg beaten, 1 tablespoon sesame seeds or Everything Bagel seasoning
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the twists are puffed up, golden brown, and the cheese is melted and gooey.
- Let the Jalapeno Popper Twists cool slightly on the baking sheet before serving. They are best enjoyed warm when the cheese is perfectly melted and the dough is delightfully crispy.
Notes
Store leftover twists in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. They can also be frozen for up to 2-3 months. Reheat refrigerated twists at 350°F (175°C) for 8-10 minutes, or from frozen for a few extra minutes.
