Ingredients

Sandwich Assembly
  • 1 package (12 count) Hawaiian sweet rolls King's Hawaiian or similar
  • 4 slices Sharp Cheddar Cheese Thinly sliced
  • 4 slices Provolone Cheese Thinly sliced
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted Butter Softened

Method

Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9x9 inch baking dish.
  2. Carefully slice the entire package of Hawaiian rolls horizontally in half, keeping the rolls attached to maintain their shape.
  3. On the bottom half of the rolls, layer the cheese slices evenly. Start with two slices of cheddar, then two slices of provolone, spreading them across all 12 rolls. Place the top half of the rolls back on.
  4. In a small bowl, melt the butter. Brush the tops of the assembled sandwiches generously with the melted butter, ensuring even coating.
  5. Cover the baking dish loosely with aluminum foil and bake for 10 minutes. This allows the cheese to start melting without browning the exterior.
  6. Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the cheese is completely melted and gooey.
  7. Remove from the oven. Carefully slice between the rolls to separate the 12 mini grilled cheese sandwiches. Serve immediately.

Notes

For an extra savory kick, mix 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder into the melted butter before brushing the tops.
