Prep Time 30 minutes
hours (Final Freeze) 1 minute
Course: Dessert
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

  • 3-4 large Bananas ripe but firm (enough to slice easily)
  • 1/2 cup Peanuts roasted and salted (chopped for topping or whole)
  • 1 cup Dark Chocolate Chips (or roughly chopped dark chocolate bar)
  • 1 tablespoon Coconut Oil (optional, helps the chocolate melt smoothly)
  • 1/4 cup Peanut Butter smooth or crunchy, your preference
  • A pinch Sea Salt for sprinkling

Equipment

  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Small Spoon
  • Piping Bag (optional)
  • Microwave-safe bowl
  • Double Boiler (optional)
  • Fork
  • Airtight container
  • Heavy-duty Freezer Bag

Method

  1. Peel your ripe bananas and slice them into approximately 1/2-inch thick rounds. Lay these banana slices in a single layer on a parchment-paper-lined baking sheet. This prevents sticking and makes them easy to remove later.

  2. Using a small spoon or a piping bag (if you want to be extra neat), spread a thin layer of peanut butter onto one side of each banana slice. Aim for an even coating, similar to how the nougat and caramel layers are in a Snickers bar.
1/4 cup Peanut Butter, 3-4 large Bananas
  3. Sprinkle the chopped roasted peanuts over the peanut butter layer on each banana slice. Press them down gently so they adhere to the peanut butter. If you prefer whole peanuts, you can press one or two into the center of each slice.
1/2 cup Peanuts, 3-4 large Bananas
  4. Carefully place the baking sheet with the prepared banana slices into the freezer. Let them freeze for at least 30-60 minutes, or until they are firm to the touch. This step is crucial for creating the solid base for your chocolate coating.

  5. While the banana bases are freezing, prepare your chocolate coating. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the dark chocolate chips and the coconut oil (if using). Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each interval, until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth. Alternatively, you can melt the chocolate in a double boiler over simmering water.
1 cup Dark Chocolate Chips, 1 tablespoon Coconut Oil
  6. Once the banana bases are frozen and firm, and the chocolate is melted, it’s time to coat them. Working quickly, dip each frozen banana slice into the melted chocolate, ensuring it's fully covered. You can use a fork to lift them and tap off any excess chocolate.

  7. Place the chocolate-coated banana slices back onto the parchment-lined baking sheet. Immediately sprinkle a pinch of sea salt over the still-wet chocolate. This adds that signature salty-sweet balance reminiscent of a Snickers bar.
3-4 large Bananas, A pinch Sea Salt
  8. Return the baking sheet to the freezer and let the Viral Frozen Banana Snickers freeze completely for at least another 1-2 hours, or until the chocolate is hard and set.

Notes

Best enjoyed straight from the freezer. Store in an airtight container for up to 2-3 months. Allow to sit at room temperature for 5-10 minutes before biting into.
