Method
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. This will prevent the bark from sticking and make removal a breeze.
- Lay the banana slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Try to ensure they are not overlapping too much, though a little overlap is fine.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and coconut oil (if using). Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well between each interval, until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth. Alternatively, you can melt the chocolate using a double boiler over low heat.1 cup semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips, 1 tablespoon coconut oil
- Once smooth, pour or spread the melted chocolate evenly over the banana slices. Ensure all the banana pieces are well-coated. You can use a spatula or the back of a spoon to achieve this.
- While the chocolate is still wet and melty, sprinkle your chosen toppings generously over the chocolate-covered bananas. Get creative with combinations! From crunchy nuts and seeds to sweet dried fruit and a sprinkle of sea salt for that perfect sweet-and-salty contrast, the possibilities are endless.
- Carefully place the baking sheet into your freezer. Allow the bark to freeze for at least 1-2 hours, or until the chocolate is completely firm and solid.
- Once frozen solid, gently lift the parchment paper or silicone mat from the baking sheet. Break the Viral Chocolate Banana Bark into bite-sized pieces. Serve immediately and enjoy this delightful treat!
Notes
To store, transfer frozen pieces to an airtight container or freezer-safe zip-top bag. Individually wrapping pieces in parchment paper can prevent sticking. Can be stored for 1-2 months. Eaten straight from the freezer; allow to thaw for 1-2 minutes if too hard.
