  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and packed light brown sugar. Use an electric mixer (handheld or stand mixer with the paddle attachment) to beat them until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. This process incorporates air, which is crucial for a tender cookie texture.

  3. Beat in the two large eggs, one at a time, ensuring each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next. Then, stir in the vanilla extract and any desired food coloring (start with a few drops and add more until you achieve a light pink hue, if using).
