- In a medium bowl, combine the two cans of refried beans with half of the taco seasoning packet. Mix thoroughly until the seasoning is evenly distributed. Spread this bean mixture in a thin, even layer at the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish or a similar sized shallow serving dish. Press gently with the back of a spoon to create a compact base.2 cans (15 ounces each) refried beans (traditional or vegetarian), 1 packet (1 ounce) taco seasoning mix
- In a separate bowl, combine the sour cream with the remaining half of the taco seasoning packet. Stir well until the seasoning is fully incorporated into the sour cream, creating a flavorful, creamy mixture. With a spoon, carefully spread this seasoned sour cream evenly over the refried bean layer. Try to avoid disturbing the beans as much as possible.1 cup sour cream, 1 packet (1 ounce) taco seasoning mix
- Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese (or your chosen Mexican blend) evenly over the sour cream layer. Ensure there are no bare spots, as this layer will melt and bind the dip together beautifully.1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese (or a Mexican blend)
- Spoon your favorite salsa over the cheese layer. Gently spread it out, covering the cheese as much as possible. You can use mild, medium, or hot salsa, depending on your preference and your guests' taste buds.1 cup salsa (your favorite kind)
- Evenly scatter the chopped black olives over the salsa layer. These little bursts of salty flavor add a delightful contrast to the creamy and cheesy components.½ cup chopped black olives (canned, drained)
- Sprinkle the diced tomatoes over the black olives. For the best texture and flavor, it’s recommended to use fresh tomatoes. If using canned diced tomatoes, drain them thoroughly to prevent the dip from becoming watery.1 cup diced tomatoes (fresh or canned, drained)
- If desired, sprinkle with chopped fresh cilantro and thinly sliced green onions for a pop of color and extra freshness. This Ultimate Seven Layer Bean Dip is best served immediately, but can also be chilled for about 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld slightly.½ cup chopped fresh cilantro, green onions, thinly sliced
