- In a medium saucepan, combine the rolled oats, chia seeds, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Stir these dry ingredients together well to ensure even distribution. This foundational step helps to integrate the flavors and textures from the beginning.1/2 cup rolled oats, 1 tablespoon chia seeds, 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon, pinch salt
- Pour in the unsweetened almond milk (or your preferred milk). Stir everything together until thoroughly combined. The liquid will begin to hydrate the oats and chia seeds, kickstarting the cooking and thickening process.1 cup unsweetened almond milk
- Place the saucepan over medium heat. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring frequently to prevent sticking to the bottom of the pan. Continue to cook for 3-5 minutes, or until the oatmeal has reached your desired creamy consistency. The oats should be tender, and the liquid should be mostly absorbed, creating a thick porridge.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat. Add the scoop of protein powder to the cooked oatmeal. Stir vigorously until the protein powder is completely incorporated and no lumps remain. It’s crucial to add the protein powder off the heat to prevent it from clumping or altering its texture and nutritional benefits. This step transforms your basic oatmeal into a power-packed meal.1 scoop (approximately 30g) vanilla or unflavored protein powder
- Pour the prepared protein oatmeal into a serving bowl. Arrange your favorite toppings over the oatmeal, such as fresh berries, chopped nuts, a drizzle of honey or maple syrup, a spoonful of nut butter, or sliced banana. Get creative with your toppings to enhance flavor and texture.1/4 cup fresh berries, 1 tablespoon chopped nuts, 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup, 1 tablespoon nut butter, 1/4 sliced banana
