Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh strawberries hulled and sliced in half lengthwise
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
Optional garnishes
  • chocolate syrup
  • fresh mint leaves
  • additional berries

Equipment

  • Electric mixer
  • Whisk
  • Bowl
  • Spatula

Method

  1. Gently wash and thoroughly pat dry the fresh strawberries. Carefully slice each strawberry in half lengthwise, ensuring the stem end remains intact on one half of each berry. These will form the base of your Strawberry Hearts.
    1 pound fresh strawberries
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Using an electric mixer or a whisk, beat the ingredients until smooth and well combined, ensuring there are no lumps of cream cheese.
8 ounces cream cheese, 1/4 cup powdered sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  3. In a separate, chilled bowl, pour in the heavy whipping cream. Whip the cream on medium-high speed until stiff peaks form. Be careful not to over-whip, or it may become buttery.
    1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
  4. Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture. Use a spatula and a light, airy motion to combine the two, maintaining as much airiness as possible. You want a light, fluffy, and smooth filling for your Strawberry Hearts.
  5. Take one half of a prepared strawberry. Spoon or pipe a generous dollop of the cream cheese filling onto the cut side of the strawberry half.
    1 pound fresh strawberries
  6. Take the other strawberry half (the one with the stem still attached, if possible) and gently place it cut-side down onto the filling, creating a sandwich effect. The natural shape of the strawberries, when put together, will resemble a heart. Repeat this process with the remaining strawberry halves and filling.
    1 pound fresh strawberries
  7. For an extra touch of elegance, you can drizzle a little chocolate syrup over the Strawberry Hearts, garnish with a fresh mint leaf, or add a tiny piece of another berry on top. Serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.
