Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 bunch Fresh Garlic Scapes Approximately 10-12 ounces
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Flaky Sea Salt Or to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon Freshly Ground Black Pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Lemon Juice Optional, for finishing

Method

Instructions
  1. Prepare the garlic scapes by trimming off the tough, dry ends and cutting the stalks into manageable 3-4 inch lengths.
  2. In a medium bowl, toss the cut garlic scapes with the olive oil, black pepper, and half of the flaky sea salt until evenly coated.
  3. Preheat your grill (gas or charcoal) to medium-high heat, ensuring the grates are clean and lightly oiled to prevent sticking.
  4. Place the seasoned garlic scapes directly onto the hot grill grates. Grill for 3-4 minutes per side, turning occasionally, until they develop char marks and become tender-crisp.
  5. Remove the scapes from the grill. Immediately transfer them to a serving platter.
  6. Squeeze the fresh lemon juice (if using) over the hot scapes, then sprinkle with the remaining flaky sea salt. Serve immediately as a vibrant side dish or appetizer.

Notes

Garlic scapes are the curly flower stalks of hardneck garlic plants. They have a milder, sweeter flavor than mature garlic bulbs. Do not overcook; they should retain a slight snap.
