Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Gently unfold the thawed puff pastry sheet onto the prepared baking sheet. Using a sharp knife, lightly score a border about 1/2 inch from the edges, being careful not to cut all the way through the pastry.
- Arrange the thinly sliced nectarines neatly within the scored border, slightly overlapping them. Sprinkle evenly with the granulated sugar and lightly drizzle with fresh lemon juice.
- Brush the exposed edges (the border) of the puff pastry with the beaten egg wash. Dot the surface of the fruit with small cubes of butter.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown, puffed up around the edges, and the nectarines are tender and slightly caramelized.
- Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes. Dust generously with powdered sugar before slicing into 4 squares and serving warm.
Notes
For an extra decadent feel, serve with a small scoop of vanilla bean ice cream or a dollop of crème fraîche. Ensure the puff pastry is cold when you score it for the best rise.
