Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 or 85/15 for good fat content)
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter or ghee
  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper
  • 2-4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled (for topping) Optional
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese (if dairy is included in your carnivore approach) Optional
  • 1-2 hard-boiled eggs, sliced (for a side) Optional

Method
 

  1. Place the ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat. Break it apart with a spoon and begin to brown it.

  2. Once the beef is mostly browned, carefully tilt the skillet to drain off any excess grease. You can leave a little for flavor, depending on your preference and the fat content of the beef.
  3. Sprinkle the browned ground beef generously with salt and black pepper. Stir well to distribute the seasonings evenly.

  4. Continue to cook the ground beef until it reaches your desired level of doneness. For a more traditional burger texture, cook until no pink remains. For a slightly more rendered and flavorful patty, you can cook it a bit longer, allowing some of the fat to render out.

  5. Once the beef is cooked through, add the tablespoon of butter or ghee to the skillet. Stir it into the beef until it melts and coats the meat, adding a rich flavor and a lovely sheen.

  7. If you're using bacon, sprinkle the crumbled bacon over the top. If you're including dairy, add the shredded cheddar cheese and allow it to melt slightly from the heat of the beef. Serve immediately, perhaps alongside sliced hard-boiled eggs for a complete and satisfying carnivore meal.

Notes

Allow the cooked Simple Carnivore Dinner to cool completely before storing. Transfer the leftovers to an airtight container. It will stay fresh in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. For longer storage, freeze the cooled leftovers. Place them in a freezer-safe container or zip-top bag, squeezing out as much air as possible. Frozen Simple Carnivore Dinner can be kept for up to 2-3 months. To reheat on the stovetop, place the leftovers in a skillet over medium heat, adding a splash of water or a small pat of butter if a bit dry, and stir until heated through. In the microwave, reheat on medium power for 1-2 minutes intervals, stirring in between, until hot.
