Ingredients

  • 1 pound medium shrimp peeled and deveined, roughly chopped
  • 1/2 pound lump crab meat picked over for shells
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup red onion finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives chopped
  • 12-16 refrigerated biscuit dough packages such as Pillsbury Grands Flaky Layers Biscuits
  • 4 ounces shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter for brushing biscuits (Optional)

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Medium Bowl
  • Small Bowl
  • Whisk

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the chopped shrimp and lump crab meat.
1 pound medium shrimp, 1/2 pound lump crab meat
  3. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, fresh lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, and black pepper until well combined and smooth.
1/4 cup mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard, 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice, 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, 1/2 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  4. Add the chopped red onion, fresh parsley, and fresh chives to the shrimp and crab mixture. Pour the creamy sauce over the seafood and vegetables. Gently fold everything together until the seafood is evenly coated. Be careful not to overmix, as this can break up the crab meat too much.
1/4 cup red onion, 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, 1 tablespoon fresh chives
  5. Open the refrigerated biscuit dough. If using larger biscuits, you may want to gently flatten them slightly to create a more stable base. If using smaller biscuits, you might need to use two per melt. Place the biscuits onto the prepared baking sheet, spaced about 2 inches apart.
    12-16 refrigerated biscuit dough packages
  6. Spoon a generous portion of the shrimp crab filling onto the center of each biscuit, leaving a small border around the edge.
  7. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the shrimp crab filling on each biscuit. The cheese will melt and help bind everything together.
    4 ounces shredded cheddar cheese
  8. Place the baking sheet into the preheated oven. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and puffed up, and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. While the biscuits are still warm from the oven, you can lightly brush the tops with melted butter for added richness and a beautiful sheen. (Optional)
    2 tablespoons melted butter
  10. Carefully remove the baking sheet from the oven. Let the Savory Shrimp Crab Biscuit Melts cool for a minute or two before serving, as the filling will be very hot.
