Method

  1. In a medium bowl, toss the cubed chicken with olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Ensure each piece is evenly coated. This initial seasoning will infuse the chicken with delicious flavor before it even hits the pan.
2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1 pound total), 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1 teaspoon smoked paprika, 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder, to taste Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  2. Heat a large skillet or sauté pan over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned chicken cubes and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is browned and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set it aside on a plate. Don't worry if there are browned bits stuck to the bottom of the pan; that's where a lot of flavor resides!

  3. Reduce the heat to medium. Add the honey, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and liquid smoke (if using) to the same skillet. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.
0.5 cup honey, 0.25 cup ketchup, 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar, 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
  4. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer, stirring frequently. Allow it to cook for 2-3 minutes, or until it thickens slightly to your desired consistency. The aroma should be incredibly enticing by this point!
  5. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet with the thickened honey BBQ sauce. Stir gently to coat all the chicken pieces evenly. Continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the chicken to warm through and absorb the delicious sauce flavors.
