Ingredients

Base Ingredients
  • 0.5 cup Quick-Cooking Rice Cereal (Cream of Rice style)
  • 2 cups Water or Milk (Dairy or Non-Dairy) Use less liquid for a thicker consistency.
  • 1 scoop Vanilla or Unflavored Whey Protein Powder Whey isolate recommended for best texture.
  • 1 teaspoon Sweetener (e.g., Erythritol, Stevia, Maple Syrup) Adjust to taste.
  • 1 pinch Salt
Optional Toppings
  • 1 tablespoon Peanut Butter or Almond Butter
  • 0.25 cup Fresh Berries

Method

Instructions
  1. In a small saucepan, combine the quick-cooking rice cereal, water/milk, and salt. Place over medium heat.
  2. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, stirring frequently to prevent sticking to the bottom of the pan.
  3. Reduce heat to low and cook for 3 to 5 minutes, or until the cereal has absorbed most of the liquid and reached a smooth, thick consistency, stirring constantly.
  4. Remove the saucepan completely from the heat. This step is crucial before adding the protein powder.
  5. Wait about 1 minute, then gradually whisk in the whey protein powder and sweetener until fully incorporated and smooth. If the mixture becomes too thick, add a splash of hot water or milk to reach desired texture.
  6. Transfer the protein cream of rice to a bowl. Top immediately with desired toppings like nut butter and berries before serving warm.

Notes

Do not add whey protein while the mixture is boiling or on direct heat, as it can cause the protein to clump severely or become grainy. Adding it off the heat ensures a creamy, pudding-like texture. Adjust liquid ratios based on your desired thickness.
