Ingredients

Tea Base
  • 2 cups Water
  • 2 Black Tea Bags (Assam or Ceylon)
  • 1 inch Cinnamon Stick
  • 1 Orange (for zest) Use a vegetable peeler to get long strips of zest
Milk and Sweetener
  • 1/2 cup Milk (whole milk or oat milk recommended)
  • 2-3 tablespoons Sweetener (Honey or Maple Syrup) Adjust to taste

Method

Instructions
  1. Prepare the orange zest. Using a vegetable peeler, carefully remove wide strips of zest from the orange, avoiding the white pith as much as possible.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine the water, cinnamon stick, and orange zest strips. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil over medium-high heat.
  3. Once boiling, remove the saucepan from the heat. Add the black tea bags and let them steep for 4 to 5 minutes, depending on desired strength.
  4. Carefully remove and discard the tea bags and the orange zest strips. Stir in the milk and your chosen sweetener until fully dissolved.
  5. If serving hot, pour immediately into mugs. If serving cold, allow to cool slightly, then pour over ice.
  6. Garnish with a thin slice of fresh orange or a sprinkle of cinnamon, if desired, before serving.

Notes

For an enhanced flavor, you can gently simmer the water, zest, and cinnamon for 5 minutes before adding the tea bags to better infuse the citrus and spice oils. Do not over-steep the tea, as it can become bitter.
