Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or diced rotisserie chicken is perfect for this!
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of chicken soup
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 cup seasoned bread crumbs like Italian seasoned or panko
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Equipment

  • 9x13 inch baking dish
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Small Bowl

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray. This will prevent the casserole from sticking and ensure easy serving.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the condensed cream of chicken soup, condensed cream of mushroom soup, and sour cream until they are smoothly combined. This forms the luscious, creamy base of our casserole.
1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of chicken soup, 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup, 1/2 cup sour cream
  3. Gradually whisk in the milk until the mixture is smooth and well incorporated. Then, stir in the melted butter, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and black pepper. Ensure all seasonings are evenly distributed to maximize flavor.
1/2 cup milk, 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted, 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  4. Add the cooked, shredded or diced chicken to the soup mixture. Stir gently until the chicken is completely coated in the creamy sauce. Make sure every piece of chicken gets its share of the deliciousness!
2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or diced
  5. Stir in 1/2 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese into the chicken and soup mixture. This will add another layer of cheesy goodness throughout the casserole as it bakes.
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  6. Pour the entire chicken and sauce mixture into the prepared greased baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  7. In a separate small bowl, combine the seasoned bread crumbs with the remaining 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese. This cheesy breadcrumb topping is what gives the Million Dollar Chicken Casserole its irresistible crunch.
1 cup seasoned bread crumbs, 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  8. Sprinkle the bread crumb and cheese mixture evenly over the surface of the chicken mixture in the baking dish. Ensure a good, even coating for maximum crispiness.
  9. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly around the edges and the topping is golden brown and crispy.
  10. Once out of the oven, let the Million Dollar Chicken Casserole rest for about 5-10 minutes before serving. This allows the flavors to meld and the casserole to set slightly, making it easier to serve.
  11. If desired, sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley before serving for a touch of freshness and color.
    2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
