Instructions
- Heat the water in a small saucepan until just simmering, or boil it in a kettle.
- Place the Earl Grey tea bag (or loose leaf tea in an infuser) into a mug. Pour the hot water over the tea and let it steep for 3-5 minutes, depending on desired strength. Remove the tea bag/infuser.
- While the tea is steeping, heat the milk in the same small saucepan over medium heat until warm and slightly frothy, about 2-3 minutes. Do not boil.
- If you have a milk frother, froth the warm milk until light and airy. If not, vigorously whisk the milk until bubbles form.
- Stir the vanilla extract and your choice of sweetener (sugar or syrup) directly into the brewed, hot tea base.
- Slowly pour the frothed milk over the tea mixture, holding back the foam initially. Once the mug is nearly full, top with the remaining foam.
- If desired, sprinkle a pinch of dried lavender buds over the foam for an extra aromatic touch. Serve immediately.
Notes
For a stronger floral note, incorporate 1/4 teaspoon of culinary lavender buds into the tea while it steeps. Use high-quality Earl Grey for the best bergamot flavor.
