- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Make sure you have an oven-safe skillet, preferably 10 inches in diameter. If you don't have one, you can transfer the mixture to baking dishes later.
- Heat the olive oil in the oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and break it up with a spoon. Season with 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the beef is browned and no pink remains, about 8-10 minutes. Drain off any excess grease.1 tablespoon olive oil, 1 pound ground beef, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Add the chopped yellow onion to the skillet with the browned beef. Cook, stirring, until the onion is softened and translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and diced ham, and cook for another 2 minutes until fragrant and the ham is lightly crisped.1/2 cup chopped yellow onion, 2 cloves garlic, minced, 4 ounces deli ham, diced
- Remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in 1/2 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese and all of the grated Gruyère cheese until just combined. This will create a delicious cheesy base.1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, 1/2 cup grated Gruyère cheese
- In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the 6 large eggs and 1/2 cup of milk. Season with a pinch more salt and pepper if desired, but remember the ham and cheeses will add saltiness.6 large eggs, 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Pour the egg and milk mixture evenly over the beef, ham, and cheese mixture in the skillet. Gently stir to distribute the ingredients.
- Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the frittata.1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Carefully transfer the oven-safe skillet to the preheated oven. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the frittata is set in the center and the cheese on top is melted and lightly golden. To check for doneness, you can gently jiggle the skillet; the center should be mostly firm.
- Once baked, carefully remove the skillet from the oven. Let the frittata rest for about 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving. This allows it to set up completely and makes for cleaner slices. Garnish with fresh parsley, if using.1 tablespoon freshly chopped parsley, for garnish
Notes
Leftover frittata can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Reheat in a skillet or microwave.
