Ingredients

For the Tea Base
  • 3 cups Water Boiling
  • 2 Green Tea Bags Or 2 teaspoons loose leaf tea
  • 1 tablespoon Granulated Sugar Adjust to taste
For the Infusion
  • 1 cup Fresh Strawberries Hulled and sliced
  • 4 Fresh Mint Leaves Lightly crushed
  • 1 cup Cold Water For dilution
  • 1 cup Ice Cubes

Method

Instructions
  1. In a small saucepan, bring 3 cups of water to a boil. Remove from heat.
  2. Place the green tea bags (or loose leaf tea) into the hot water along with the granulated sugar. Steep for exactly 3 to 4 minutes. Do not over-steep, or the tea may become bitter.
  3. Strain the tea to remove the tea bags/leaves. While the tea is still warm, stir in half of the sliced strawberries (about 1/2 cup).
  4. Allow the strawberry-infused tea mixture to cool to room temperature, then transfer it to the refrigerator along with the remaining fresh strawberries and mint leaves. Chill for at least 15 minutes.
  5. To serve, fill two tall glasses with ice cubes. Divide the chilled tea mixture evenly between the two glasses.
  6. Add the remaining 1 cup of cold water to balance the sweetness and strength, stirring gently. Garnish with extra strawberry slices and a mint sprig before serving immediately.

Notes

For an extra layer of flavor, lightly muddle the strawberries before adding them to the tea base. If you prefer less sweetness, start with only 1 teaspoon of sugar.
