Ingredients

Agua Fresca Ingredients
  • 4 cups honeydew melon, cubed, seedless
  • 4 cups cold water
  • 1/2 cup fresh mint leaves packed, plus extra for garnish
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice about 2 limes
  • 2-4 tablespoons sugar or agave nectar adjust to taste
  • Pinch salt optional, to enhance flavor

Method

Instructions
  1. Place the cubed honeydew melon, mint leaves, and lime juice into a high-speed blender.
  2. Add 2 cups of the cold water to the blender. Blend on high until the mixture is completely smooth and liquidized.
  3. Pour the blended mixture through a fine-mesh sieve placed over a large pitcher, pressing gently on the solids with the back of a spoon to extract all the liquid. Discard any remaining pulp.
  4. Stir in the remaining 2 cups of cold water and the sugar or agave nectar. Taste the mixture and add more sweetener if desired. Add a pinch of salt if using.
  5. Chill the agua fresca in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and ensure it is thoroughly cold.
  6. Serve immediately over ice. Garnish each glass with a lime wheel and a sprig of fresh mint.

Notes

For a more intense mint flavor, you can muddle the mint leaves slightly before adding them to the blender. If your honeydew is very ripe, you may need less added sweetener.
