Ingredients

Crust
  • 1 sheet puff pastry thawed if frozen
  • 1 large egg beaten for egg wash
  • 1 tbsp water for egg wash
Toppings
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce or crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 cup fresh mozzarella sliced
  • 1/2 cup mushrooms sliced
  • 1/2 cup bell peppers sliced
  • 1/4 cup black olives sliced
  • 2 tbsp fresh basil chopped
  • 1 tbsp olive oil for drizzling

Method

Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry sheet on the prepared baking sheet to about 1/4-inch thickness.
  3. Prick the pastry all over with a fork to prevent excessive puffing, then brush with egg wash mixed with water.
  4. Bake the crust for 10 minutes until lightly golden and puffed.
  5. In a small bowl, mix tomato sauce with oregano and minced garlic.
  6. Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the baked crust, leaving a small border.
  7. Arrange mozzarella slices over the sauce, followed by mushrooms, bell peppers, and olives.
  8. Drizzle with olive oil and bake for another 15 minutes until cheese is melted and crust is deep golden.
  9. Remove from oven, sprinkle with fresh basil, let cool for 2 minutes, then slice and serve.

Notes

For a crispier crust, pre-bake the pastry without toppings for 8 minutes before adding sauce. Customize with your favorite vegetables or proteins like pepperoni or grilled chicken.
