Method
- Line a large baking sheet or a shallow pan with parchment paper or wax paper. This will prevent the puppy chow from sticking and make cleanup a breeze.
- In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips, creamy peanut butter, and unsalted butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each interval, until the mixture is completely melted and smooth. Be careful not to overheat, as this can cause the chocolate to seize.1 ½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips, 1 cup creamy peanut butter, ½ cup unsalted butter
- Once the chocolate mixture is smooth, add the vanilla extract and stir until it's fully incorporated. The vanilla will enhance the overall flavor profile of your High Protein Puppy Chow.1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pour the 12 cups of Chex cereal into the bowl with the melted chocolate mixture. Gently fold the cereal into the mixture using a spatula until every piece is evenly coated. Take your time to ensure a thorough coating without crushing the cereal.12 cups Chex Cereal
- In a large resealable plastic bag or a big bowl, add the 1 ½ cups of powdered sugar. Transfer the coated cereal mixture into the bag. Seal the bag tightly and shake it vigorously for about 1-2 minutes, or until the cereal is completely covered in powdered sugar. If using a bowl, toss the cereal with the powdered sugar using a spatula until well coated.1 ½ cups powdered sugar
- Spread the powdered sugar-coated cereal in a single layer onto the prepared baking sheet. Allow the High Protein Puppy Chow to cool and set for at least 20-30 minutes at room temperature, or speed up the process by placing it in the refrigerator for about 10-15 minutes. Once cooled, break apart any clumps and enjoy your delicious homemade treat!
