- Take your entire package of regular Oreo cookies, including the cream filling. Place them into a food processor. Pulse until you have fine crumbs. Alternatively, you can place them in a large zip-top bag and crush them with a rolling pin until they reach a fine, crumb-like consistency. You'll need approximately 3 cups of fine Oreo crumbs.14.3 ounce package (about 36 cookies) regular Oreo cookies
- Transfer the Oreo crumbs to a medium mixing bowl. Add the softened cream cheese. Using a spatula or your hands, mix thoroughly until the cream cheese is completely incorporated and the mixture forms a cohesive dough. It should be like a thick, moldable playdough.14.3 ounce package (about 36 cookies) regular Oreo cookies, 8 ounce package cream cheese, softened
- Roll the Oreo mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter. You should be able to make about 30-36 truffles depending on the size. For a heart shape, gently press each ball to flatten it slightly, then pinch the top and sides to create a subtle heart indentation. You can also simply roll them into balls for a classic truffle shape. Place the shaped truffles on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Place the baking sheet with the shaped truffles into the freezer for at least 30 minutes, or into the refrigerator for at least 1 hour. This step is crucial to ensure the truffles firm up and hold their shape when you dip them in chocolate.
- While the truffles are chilling, prepare your white chocolate for dipping. Place the white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Add the vegetable shortening if using – this helps create a smoother, glossier finish. Microwave the chips in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each interval, until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth. Be careful not to overheat. If you are using candy melts, melt them according to package directions, adding shortening if desired for a smoother consistency.12 ounce package white chocolate chips, 1 tablespoon vegetable shortening, N/A N/A red, pink, or white candy melts, N/A N/A food coloring (red or pink)
- Remove the chilled truffles from the freezer/refrigerator. Using a fork or a dipping tool, carefully dip each truffle into the melted white chocolate, ensuring it's fully coated. Let any excess chocolate drip back into the bowl.
- Place the dipped truffles back onto the parchment-lined baking sheet. While the chocolate is still wet, you can immediately add decorations. Sprinkle with red sprinkles for a festive touch. If you have colored candy melts (red or pink), you can drizzle them over the white chocolate-coated truffles using a piping bag, a fork, or a zip-top bag with a corner snipped off. You can even create a beautiful marbled effect or a full candy melt coating for a different look.N/A N/A red, pink, or white candy melts, N/A N/A red sprinkles, N/A N/A food coloring (red or pink)
- Allow the chocolate coating to harden completely at room temperature. This can take about 15-30 minutes. If your kitchen is warm, you may need to place the baking sheet back into the refrigerator for about 10-15 minutes to help the chocolate set firmly.
- Once the chocolate is set, your Heart Oreo Truffles are ready to be enjoyed.
