  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • pinch salt

Equipment

Method

  1. Prep the Hawaiian rolls by slicing each roll in half horizontally, like you would for a slider bun. You'll have 24 mini slider tops and bottoms.

  2. In a shallow dish or pie plate, whisk together the 4 large eggs, 1/2 cup milk, 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg, and a pinch of salt until well combined and slightly frothy.

  3. Working in batches, dip each Hawaiian roll half into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for about 10-15 seconds per side. You want the rolls to absorb some of the custard but not become completely saturated and fall apart. Pressing gently can help.

  4. Heat 2 tablespoons of butter in a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat until melted and shimmering.
    2 tablespoons butter
  5. Carefully place the soaked Hawaiian roll halves onto the hot, buttered skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. You may need to do this in batches to avoid overcrowding the skillet, ensuring each slider gets a perfect sear.
  6. Once all the French toast slider halves are cooked, begin assembling. Spread your desired toppings on the bottom half of each slider – think a drizzle of maple syrup, a dollop of whipped cream, or a sprinkle of chocolate chips. Top with the other half of the French toast slider.

  7. Serve your Hawaiian Roll French Toast Sliders immediately. These are best enjoyed warm, allowing the flavors to meld and the textures to be at their peak.
