  2. Heat a tablespoon of oil (like vegetable or canola) in a large oven-safe skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Once the oil is shimmering, carefully place the beef chuck roast in the skillet and sear for 3-4 minutes per side, until a deep brown crust forms. This step is crucial for developing flavor.

  3. While the beef is searing, mince your four cloves of garlic.
    4 cloves garlic
  4. In a medium bowl, whisk together the melted butter, minced garlic, honey, BBQ sauce, soy sauce, brown sugar, smoked paprika, onion powder, and black pepper until well combined and smooth.
1/4 cup unsalted butter, 4 cloves garlic, 1/4 cup honey, 1/3 cup your favorite BBQ sauce, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon brown sugar, 1 teaspoon smoked paprika, 1/2 teaspoon onion powder, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  5. Pour the prepared sauce evenly over the seared beef in the skillet. Ensure the beef is mostly submerged in the sauce.

  6. Cover the skillet tightly with a lid or aluminum foil. Transfer to a preheated oven at 300°F (150°C). Cook for 3 to 4 hours, or until the beef is fork-tender and shreds easily. You can also do this in a slow cooker on low for 6-8 hours.
  7. Once the beef is tender, carefully remove it from the skillet using tongs and place it on a cutting board or in a large bowl. Use two forks to shred the beef into bite-sized pieces.
  8. Return the shredded beef to the skillet with the remaining sauce. Stir to coat the shredded beef evenly with the flavorful BBQ sauce. Let it simmer gently for another 5-10 minutes over low heat, allowing the flavors to meld.
  9. While the beef is simmering, warm your tortillas. You can do this in a dry skillet over medium heat for about 30 seconds per side, in the microwave wrapped in a damp paper towel for 30-second intervals, or briefly over an open flame on a gas stove for a smoky char.
