- Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8x8 inch baking pan, or line it with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides to make it easier to lift the brownies out later.
- In a medium-sized mixing bowl, add the 1/2 cup (1 stick) of melted unsalted butter. Pour in the 1 cup of granulated sugar and whisk them together until well combined.1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted, 1 cup granulated sugar
- Add the 2 large eggs to the butter and sugar mixture, one at a time, whisking well after each addition. Follow this with the 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Continue whisking until the batter is smooth and slightly lighter in color.1 cup granulated sugar, 2 large eggs, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- In a separate small bowl, whisk together the 1/3 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder, 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of baking powder.1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients in the mixing bowl. Gently fold them together using a spatula or wooden spoon until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few streaks of flour are okay, as overmixing can lead to tough brownies.1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted, 1 cup granulated sugar, 2 large eggs, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- If you desire extra bursts of melted chocolate, gently fold in the 1/2 cup of chocolate chips at this stage.1/2 cup chocolate chips
- Pour the batter into your prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs attached, but not wet batter.
- Once baked, remove the pan from the oven and let the brownies cool completely in the pan on a wire rack. After cooling, use the parchment paper overhang to lift the brownies out of the pan, then cut them into squares.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, wrap individual brownies tightly in plastic wrap and then place them in a freezer-safe bag or container for up to 3 months.
