Method
- In a medium bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth and well combined. Stir in the vanilla extract, ensuring it’s evenly distributed throughout the mixture. This forms the luscious, sweet base of your trifle.1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, 1 cup powdered sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- In a separate large bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream with an electric mixer on medium-high speed until stiff peaks form. Be careful not to overbeat; you want a fluffy, stable cream that will hold its shape.1 ½ cups heavy whipping cream
- Gently fold about half of the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture. Then, carefully add the remaining whipped cream and fold it in until just combined. You want to maintain as much airiness as possible in the filling.
- In the bottom of a 2-quart trifle dish or individual serving glasses, spread a thin layer of the cream cheese filling. This will act as the creamy foundation for your trifle.
- Evenly sprinkle about one-third of the crumbled angel food cake over the cream cheese layer. Press down gently to create a compact layer.2 cups crumbled angel food cake
- Dollop about half of the raspberry jam over the cake layer and gently spread it. The burst of fruity sweetness will complement the creamy and cakey components beautifully.½ cup raspberry jam or preserves
- Sprinkle half of the fresh raspberries and half of the chopped strawberries over the jam layer. This adds vibrant color and refreshing tartness.1 cup fresh raspberries, ½ cup chopped strawberries
- Add another layer of the cream cheese filling over the fruit. Then, repeat with another third of the angel food cake, the remaining raspberry jam, and the remaining fresh raspberries and strawberries.2 cups crumbled angel food cake, ½ cup raspberry jam or preserves, 1 cup fresh raspberries, ½ cup chopped strawberries
- Finish by topping the trifle with the remaining cream cheese filling, smoothing the top. Spoon the last of the whipped cream over this to create a beautiful, cloud-like finish.1 ½ cups heavy whipping cream
- For an extra festive touch, sprinkle Valentine's Day sprinkles over the top and add chocolate shavings or curls. Chill the trifle for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld and the layers to set slightly.Valentine's Day sprinkles, chocolate shavings or curls
