- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, crumble and cook the ground beef until it’s browned and no longer pink. Drain off any excess grease.1 pound ground beef
- Stir in the taco seasoning packet and water. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened, stirring occasionally. Set aside to cool slightly.1 packet taco seasoning, 1/2 cup water
- In a large serving bowl, combine the shredded iceberg lettuce, shredded cheddar cheese, diced tomatoes, diced red onion, sliced black olives, and corn.1 head iceberg lettuce, 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, 1 cup diced tomatoes, 1 cup diced red onion, 1 cup black olives, 1/2 cup corn
- Gently spoon the cooled taco meat over the salad ingredients in the bowl.1 pound ground beef
- Open the bag of Doritos and crush them slightly. You can do this by hand or by gently pressing on the bag. You want a good mix of larger pieces and smaller crumbs for maximum crunch.1 bag Doritos tortilla chips
- Just before serving, sprinkle the crushed Doritos over the salad. Drizzle the Catalina dressing evenly over the top.1 bag Doritos tortilla chips, 1/2 cup Catalina dressing
- Gently toss all the ingredients together until everything is well combined. Serve immediately to ensure the Doritos stay crisp. Garnish with fresh cilantro and any other desired optional toppings.1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
Notes
To keep your Doritos Taco Salad delicious, it’s best to store the components separately until ready to serve, especially the Doritos and dressing, to prevent sogginess.
