Whipping Time 15 minutes
Course: Beverage, Coffee Drink

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons Instant Coffee Granules ensure it's instant coffee, not ground coffee
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated Sugar adjust to your sweetness preference
  • 2 tablespoons Hot Water just off the boil
  • 1 cup Milk any kind: dairy, almond, oat, soy, etc.
  • A generous handful Ice Cubes

Equipment

  • Medium-sized mixing bowl
  • Whisk (electric hand mixer, stand mixer, or hand whisk)
  • Tall glass

Method

  1. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, add the 2 tablespoons of instant coffee granules, 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar, and 2 tablespoons of hot water.
2 tablespoons Instant Coffee Granules, 2 tablespoons Granulated Sugar, 2 tablespoons Hot Water
  2. Using a whisk (either electric hand mixer, stand mixer, or a good old-fashioned vigorous hand whisk), begin to whip the mixture. You'll notice it start to lighten in color and thicken. Continue whipping, which can take anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes depending on your method, until the mixture forms stiff peaks – meaning it holds its shape when you lift the whisk and doesn't drip. It should have a glossy, caramel-like appearance and a fluffy, mousse-like consistency.
  3. Fill a tall glass generously with ice cubes.
    A generous handful Ice Cubes
  4. Pour 1 cup of your chosen milk over the ice, leaving a few inches of space at the top for the whipped coffee.
    1 cup Milk
  5. Gently spoon the whipped coffee mixture on top of the milk. You can dollop it right in the center or spread it across the surface.
  6. Grab your favorite straw, stir everything together to combine the creamy coffee foam with the cool milk, and savor your homemade Dalgona Whipped Coffee Recipe!

Notes

Whipped coffee topping is best enjoyed immediately. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days and re-whipped briefly. Freezing is not recommended.
