Ingredients

For the Passion Tea Concentrate
  • 4 tea bags Tazo Passion Herbal Tea (or similar hibiscus/passion fruit tea)
  • 2 cups Boiling Water
  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar Adjust to taste
For Assembly
  • 2 cups Lemonade High quality or fresh-squeezed preferred
  • 3 cups Cold Water
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract (optional) For extra depth
  • As needed Ice cubes

Method

Instructions
  1. Steep the Tea: Place the 4 tea bags in a heatproof container. Pour 2 cups of boiling water over the tea bags. Let them steep for a full 10 minutes to achieve a strong, concentrated flavor.
  2. Create Simple Syrup/Sweetener: While the tea is steeping, combine the granulated sugar with 1/2 cup of hot water in a small saucepan (or microwave safe bowl). Heat gently, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved. Set aside to cool slightly.
  3. Combine Concentrate: Remove the tea bags from the steeped tea (do not squeeze them, as this can release bitter tannins). Stir the cooled sugar syrup and the vanilla extract (if using) into the strong tea concentrate. Allow the concentrate to cool completely, either at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
  4. Mix the Drink Base: In a large pitcher, combine the cooled passion tea concentrate, 2 cups of high-quality lemonade, and 3 cups of cold water. Stir well to fully incorporate.
  5. Serve the Lemonade: Fill tall glasses generously with ice. Pour the passion tea lemonade mixture over the ice. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness by adding more sugar syrup or lemonade if necessary. Garnish with fresh lemon slices.

Notes

For an extra vibrant color, ensure your tea bags are rich in hibiscus. This recipe makes a concentrate; feel free to cut back on the cold water for an even stronger flavor profile, similar to the Starbucks standard.
