Method
- In a medium jar or airtight container, add the rolled oats, unsweetened cocoa powder, chia seeds (if using), and a pinch of salt. Stir these dry ingredients together thoroughly to ensure the cocoa powder is evenly distributed and there are no clumps.1/2 cup rolled oats, 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon chia seeds, Pinch salt
- Next, add the creamy peanut butter, maple syrup or honey, vanilla extract, and your chosen milk to the container.1 tablespoon creamy peanut butter, 1-2 teaspoons maple syrup or honey, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1 cup milk of choice
- Stir all the ingredients together very well. This is a crucial step to ensure the peanut butter is fully incorporated and the chia seeds are dispersed. A whisk or a fork can be helpful here to break up any peanut butter clumps.
- Seal the container tightly with a lid and place it in the refrigerator. Allow the mixture to chill for at least 4-6 hours, or ideally, overnight. This allows the oats and chia seeds to absorb the liquid, creating a thick and creamy texture.
- In the morning, give the overnight oats a good stir. If the mixture is too thick for your liking, you can add a splash more milk to reach your desired consistency. Serve cold, topped with your favorite extras.1 cup milk of choice
Notes
Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Best served cold, but can be gently reheated.
