- In a medium-sized jar, bowl, or container with a lid, add the rolled oats, matcha powder, chia seeds, and a pinch of salt. Whisk them together thoroughly to ensure the matcha powder is evenly distributed and there are no clumps. This step is crucial for a smooth, consistent flavor throughout your oats.1/2 cup rolled oats, 1 tablespoon matcha powder, 1 tablespoon chia seeds, Pinch of salt
- Pour in the milk of your choice, followed by the honey or maple syrup (start with 1 teaspoon and add more if you prefer a sweeter oat), and the vanilla extract if using.1 cup milk of choice, 1-2 teaspoons honey or maple syrup, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Stir all the ingredients together vigorously. Ensure that the chia seeds and matcha powder are fully incorporated into the liquid and that there are no dry pockets of oats or matcha. Scrape down the sides of the container if needed to make sure everything is blended.
- Securely cover the container with a lid or plastic wrap. Place it in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or ideally, overnight. This allows the oats and chia seeds to absorb the liquid, creating a thick, creamy texture.
- In the morning, give your matcha overnight oats a good stir. If they are too thick for your liking, you can add a splash more milk to reach your desired consistency. Spoon the oats into your favorite breakfast bowl and add your desired toppings. Get creative with fresh berries, crunchy nuts, a drizzle of sweetener, or a dollop of yogurt for an extra creamy finish.fresh berries, sliced banana, toasted nuts or seeds, shredded coconut, Greek yogurt or coconut yogurt, honey or maple syrup
Notes
The prepared oats will stay fresh in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. The texture will continue to thicken as they sit, so you may want to add a splash of milk in the morning to achieve your preferred consistency.
