Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped yellow onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 24 slider buns Hawaiian sweet rolls or potato slider buns recommended
  • 8 ounces shredded cheddar cheese or a blend of cheddar and Monterey Jack
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley optional, for garnish
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds optional, for garnish

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Large skillet or griddle
  • Baking Sheet
  • Broiler
  • Oven
  • Toaster oven

Method

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the lean ground beef, finely chopped yellow onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Use your hands to gently mix all the ingredients until they are just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can result in tough sliders.
1 pound lean ground beef, 1/2 cup finely chopped yellow onion, 2 cloves garlic, minced, 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  2. Divide the beef mixture into 12 equal portions. For each portion, shape the ground beef into a uniform patty that is slightly larger than the diameter of your slider buns, as they will shrink during cooking. Aim for patties about 1/2 inch thick.
  3. Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Add the beef patties to the hot skillet. Cook for approximately 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare, or longer depending on your desired level of doneness. Ensure each patty is cooked through. If your skillet is not large enough for all patties, cook them in batches.
  4. While the beef patties are cooking, gently slice the slider buns in half horizontally. Arrange the bottom halves of the slider buns on a baking sheet.

  5. Once the beef patties are cooked, place one patty on top of each bottom slider bun. Generously sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over each hot beef patty.
    8 ounces shredded cheddar cheese
  6. Place the baking sheet with the assembled sliders under a preheated broiler. Broil for 1-2 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the edges of the buns are lightly toasted. Keep a close eye on them to prevent burning.
  7. Carefully remove the baking sheet from the broiler. Place the top halves of the slider buns over the melted cheese. For an extra touch of flavor and presentation, brush the tops of the buns with melted butter and sprinkle with dried parsley and sesame seeds, if desired.
2 tablespoons butter, melted, 1 teaspoon dried parsley, 1 teaspoon sesame seeds, 24 slider buns
  8. Serve your delicious Beef and Cheese Sliders warm for the best experience.

Notes

Store any uncooked components (cooked beef patties and shredded cheese) separately in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days. Reassemble and reheat in a toaster oven or regular oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5-7 minutes, or microwave individual patties with cheese for 30-60 seconds. For longer storage, freeze cooked patties for up to 2-3 months, thawing overnight in the refrigerator before reheating.
