Ingredients

  • 1 cup frozen unsweetened diced apples Ensure your diced apples are frozen for a thicker, colder smoothie. If you don't have frozen apples, you can freeze fresh diced apples for at least 2-3 hours beforehand, or use fresh apples and add a few ice cubes to the blender.
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk or milk of choice
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter
  • 1 teaspoon pure maple syrup or to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • pinch ground cloves optional
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ice cubes optional, for thicker consistency

Equipment

  • Blender

Method

  1. Gather all your ingredients. Ensure your diced apples are frozen for a thicker, colder smoothie. If you don't have frozen apples, you can freeze fresh diced apples for at least 2-3 hours beforehand, or use fresh apples and add a few ice cubes to the blender.
1 cup frozen unsweetened diced apples
  2. Pour the unsweetened almond milk (or your chosen milk) into your blender. Adding the liquid first helps the blades move more freely and efficiently.
    1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
  3. Spoon in the plain Greek yogurt and add the almond butter. The Greek yogurt will contribute to a wonderfully creamy texture and adds a boost of protein.
1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt, 1 tablespoon almond butter
  4. Drizzle in the pure maple syrup. Add the ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and a pinch of ground cloves if you’re using them. These spices are what give our Apple Pie Smoothie its authentic pie flavor.
1 teaspoon pure maple syrup, 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg, pinch ground cloves
  5. Add the cup of frozen unsweetened diced apples to the blender. The frozen apples are key to achieving a thick, frosty consistency reminiscent of a chilled apple dessert.
1 cup frozen unsweetened diced apples
  6. Add the vanilla extract for an extra layer of warmth and depth to the flavor profile.
    1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  7. Secure the lid on your blender and blend on high speed until all the ingredients are completely combined and the smoothie is smooth and creamy. You may need to scrape down the sides of the blender jar once or twice to ensure everything is incorporated.
  8. If you prefer a thicker smoothie, add a few ice cubes and blend again until smooth. If it’s too thick, add a splash more almond milk and blend until you reach your desired consistency.

  9. Pour your Apple Pie Smoothie into a glass and enjoy! For an extra touch, you can garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon or a drizzle of extra maple syrup.
