Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats old-fashioned oats recommended for best texture
  • 1 cup milk dairy or non-dairy alternatives like almond, soy, or oat milk work well
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt or a dairy-free yogurt alternative
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey adjust to your sweetness preference
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 small apple apple, finely diced any variety like Gala, Fuji, or Honeycrisp
  • 1 pinch salt

Method

  1. In a medium-sized jar or airtight container, add the rolled oats, chia seeds, cinnamon, nutmeg, and pinch of salt. Stir these dry ingredients together until they are evenly distributed. This ensures all the flavors meld together beautifully during the soaking process.
1/2 cup rolled oats, 1 tablespoon chia seeds, 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg, 1 pinch salt
  2. Pour in your chosen milk, Greek yogurt, and maple syrup or honey. Stir everything thoroughly until well combined. The yogurt adds a wonderful creaminess, and the sweetener balances the warm spices.
1 cup milk, 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt, 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
  3. Gently fold in the finely diced apple pieces. Make sure they are submerged within the oat mixture as much as possible to allow them to soften nicely overnight.
1/2 small apple apple, finely diced
  4. Give the entire mixture one final, gentle stir to ensure everything is incorporated and there are no dry pockets of oats at the bottom. Place a lid firmly on your jar or container.
  5. Place the sealed container in the refrigerator and let it chill for at least 4 hours, but preferably overnight (8-12 hours). This crucial step allows the oats and chia seeds to absorb the liquid, thicken, and develop their wonderfully soft and creamy texture.
  6. In the morning, give your Apple Cinnamon Overnight Oats a good stir. If the consistency is too thick for your liking, you can add a splash more milk to reach your desired creaminess. Serve cold, and feel free to add your favorite toppings!
    1 cup milk

Notes

Individual servings store well in airtight containers for 3-4 days. Can be frozen for up to 1 month, but texture may soften. No reheating needed; enjoy chilled.
