Ingredients

  • 1 can (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 medium apple, peeled, cored, and finely diced
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (for dusting)
  • extra cinnamon (for dusting)
  • caramel sauce, whipped cream, or ice cream (for serving)

Equipment

  • Air Fryer
  • Medium Bowl

Method

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the finely diced apple, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg (if using). Stir well to ensure the apples are evenly coated with the spices and sugar.
1 medium apple, peeled, cored, and finely diced, 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  2. Unroll the can of crescent roll dough and separate it into four rectangles. Pinch the seams together to form one solid rectangle.
1 can (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  3. Spoon the apple filling evenly across the surface of the dough rectangle, leaving a small border along one of the long edges (this will help seal the roll-up).
  4. Starting from the long edge with the filling, carefully and tightly roll up the dough. Pinch the seam and the ends to seal the filling inside.
  5. Brush the tops of the roll-ups with melted butter and then sprinkle evenly with granulated sugar and an extra pinch of cinnamon if desired. This step is essential for achieving that beautiful golden-brown finish and a delightful sweet crunch.
1 tablespoon melted butter, 1 tablespoon granulated sugar, extra cinnamon
  6. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3-5 minutes.
  7. Carefully place the roll-ups in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring they are not touching. You will likely need to cook them in batches.
  8. Air fry for 8-12 minutes, or until the roll-ups are golden brown and cooked through. The exact time will depend on your air fryer model. You can carefully open the basket halfway through to check on their progress and flip them gently if needed for even browning.
  9. Once cooked, carefully remove the Air Fryer Apple Pie Roll Ups from the air fryer. Let them cool for a minute or two before serving. They are best enjoyed warm, perhaps drizzled with caramel sauce, topped with whipped cream, or served alongside a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Allow the roll-ups to cool completely before storing. Once cooled, place them in an airtight container or wrap them tightly in plastic wrap and then aluminum foil. Store them at room temperature for up to 2 days. If you plan to keep them for longer, refrigerate them in an airtight container for up to 4 days. To reheat, the air fryer is your best friend again! Place the cooled roll-ups back in your air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 2-4 minutes, or until warmed through and the pastry regains some of its crispness. You can also reheat them in a conventional oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5-7 minutes. Avoid heating them in the microwave, as this can make the pastry soggy. For future enjoyment, you can also freeze the unbaked roll-ups. Place them on a baking sheet to freeze until solid, then transfer them to a freezer-safe bag or container for up to 2 months. When ready to cook from frozen, add a few extra minutes to the air frying time.
