Description

A simple, stress-free way to preserve your Amish Friendship Bread starter in the fridge so it’s ready when you are.

Ingredients

  • Amish Friendship Bread Starter: Your existing active starter, ready to be stored
  • Airtight Container: Glass or plastic container to prevent drying out and contamination

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Starter: Stir the Amish Friendship Bread starter well. If it’s a fresh batch, complete the initial 10-day cycle first.
  2. Transfer to Container: Pour the stirred starter into a clean, airtight jar or container. Leave some headspace.
  3. Seal and Refrigerate: Close the lid securely and place the jar in the refrigerator.

Notes

Burp the jar weekly to release pressure. No feeding needed while stored. Discard and start fresh if mold appears. To revive, remove from fridge, discard top liquid, feed starter, and let it sit at room temperature.
