A moist and delicious Caramel Apple Crumb Cake with a buttery crumb topping and caramel drizzle, perfect for fall.
Ingredients

- 3 cups all-purpose flour, divided (2 cups for cake, 1 cup for crumb)
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar, divided (3/4 cup for cake, 3/4 cup for crumb)
- ½ cup packed brown sugar (for crumb)
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon, divided
- ¾ cup (1 ½ sticks) cold unsalted butter, cubed (for crumb)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 medium apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or blend), peeled, cored, chopped
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Caramel sauce for drizzling
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- Make the Crumb Topping: Combine 1 cup flour, ¾ cup granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon and cold butter. Cut in butter until coarse crumbs form. Refrigerate.
- Prepare Apple Filling: Combine chopped apples, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Set aside.
- Make Cake Batter: Whisk remaining 2 cups flour, ¾ cup granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Add Eggs, Milk & Vanilla: Beat with an electric mixer until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Assemble: Pour batter into pan. Layer apples. Sprinkle with crumb topping.
- Bake: 45-50 minutes, or until skewer comes out clean. Tent with foil if browning too fast.
- Cool & Drizzle: Cool completely before drizzling with caramel sauce.
- Serve and enjoy!
Notes
For the best results, use cold butter for the crumb topping and do not overmix the cake batter. Using a mix of sweet and tart apples will add a good flavor.
