  • 1 cup cooled butterfly pea flower tea (or strong hibiscus tea)
  • 1 tablespoon raw apple cider vinegar (with “the mother”)
  • Juice of ½ fresh lemon (about 1 tablespoon)
  • ½ teaspoon freshly grated ginger
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon raw honey or maple syrup, to taste

Instructions

  1. Steep butterfly pea flowers (or hibiscus) in 1 cup of hot water for 5–7 minutes. Strain and let cool.
  2. Cut lemon in half and squeeze until you have about 1 tablespoon of juice; remove seeds.
  3. Peel and finely grate a ½-inch piece of fresh ginger. You should end up with about ½ teaspoon.
  4. In a glass or small pitcher, combine cooled tea, apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, and grated ginger.
  5. Stir in honey or maple syrup until dissolved, tasting and adjusting sweetness.
  6. Pour over ice, garnish with a slice of lemon or a sprig of mint, and enjoy immediately.

Notes

Brew your butterfly pea flower tea extra strong (1–2 tablespoons of dried flowers per cup of hot water), then chill completely before mixing. Drink 15–30 minutes before meals to help reduce appetite and improve digestion.
