Description

These spooky-cute Baked Cheese Mummies are the perfect Halloween appetizer—creamy, cheesy filling wrapped in flaky puff pastry bandages with olive eyes for extra fun.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet (14.1 oz) puff pastry, thawed
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Black olives, sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine cream cheese, cheddar, Parmesan, garlic powder, and black pepper. Mix until smooth.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, unfold puff pastry and cut into 1/2-inch strips.
  4. Place a spoonful of cheese mixture at one end of a pastry strip. Wrap the strip around the filling, leaving space at the top for the eyes. Continue wrapping with more strips, overlapping slightly to create mummy bandages. Shape into ovals.
  5. Place mummies on prepared baking sheet, spaced 1 inch apart.
  6. Brush pastry with beaten egg.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown and cheese is melted.
  8. Let cool slightly, then press two olive slices into each mummy for eyes.
  9. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

For best results, keep puff pastry chilled until ready to cut. You can customize the cheese blend to your taste.
