Description
These spooky-cute Baked Cheese Mummies are the perfect Halloween appetizer—creamy, cheesy filling wrapped in flaky puff pastry bandages with olive eyes for extra fun.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sheet (14.1 oz) puff pastry, thawed
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 egg, beaten
- Black olives, sliced
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, combine cream cheese, cheddar, Parmesan, garlic powder, and black pepper. Mix until smooth.
- On a lightly floured surface, unfold puff pastry and cut into 1/2-inch strips.
- Place a spoonful of cheese mixture at one end of a pastry strip. Wrap the strip around the filling, leaving space at the top for the eyes. Continue wrapping with more strips, overlapping slightly to create mummy bandages. Shape into ovals.
- Place mummies on prepared baking sheet, spaced 1 inch apart.
- Brush pastry with beaten egg.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown and cheese is melted.
- Let cool slightly, then press two olive slices into each mummy for eyes.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
For best results, keep puff pastry chilled until ready to cut. You can customize the cheese blend to your taste.
