Description

Craving a breakfast that’s fluffy, flavorful, and just a little bit special? These Amish Friendship Bread Pancakes are tangy, sweet, and incredibly tender thanks to the unique starter. A perfect weekend treat!


Ingredients

  • 1 cup Amish Friendship Bread Starter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (plus more for greasing griddle)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the Amish Friendship Bread Starter, egg, milk, and melted butter.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are fine.
  4. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium heat.
  5. Pour 1/4 cup of batter for each pancake onto the griddle.
  6. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, flipping when bubbles form on the surface. Pancakes should be golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Serve immediately with your favorite toppings such as maple syrup, berries, whipped cream, or chocolate chips.

Notes

These pancakes are fluffy with a slight tang from the starter. Perfect served with maple syrup, fresh fruit, or even Nutella!
