Description

A cozy, old-fashioned casserole featuring tender egg noodles, savory ground beef, and creamy mushroom sauce baked under a golden cheese topping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 500 g ground beef
  • 1 diced onion
  • 2 minced garlic cloves
  • 12 oz (340 g) egg noodles
  • 2 cans cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar and mozzarella blend recommended)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking spray or butter for greasing

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook egg noodles in salted boiling water until just al dente, drain and set aside.
  3. Brown ground beef with onion and garlic in a skillet over medium heat until fully cooked; drain excess fat.
  4. Layer half the noodles in the baking dish, then the beef mixture, followed by a mixture of soups and milk. Top with remaining noodles and shredded cheese.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 5–7 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  6. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving for easier slicing and serving.

Notes

Add a pinch of paprika, Worcestershire sauce, or even a spoonful of Dijon mustard for extra flavor. Frozen peas or green beans can be added for a veggie boost.
